Antonella Ragazzoni is an Italian photographer based in Johannesburg. With a background in public relations and film production, she approached the world of photography and made a promising start by winning her first award a social campaign in Italy. After moving to South Africa, she began working as contributor photojournalist for Demotix, a citizen journalism website and photo agency based in London and owned by Corbis. She had her photographs published in several newspapers, books and tourism blogs. Her work focuses mainly on social and humanitarian photography, blending in some reportage elements with a storytelling flare. As an animal lover and proud “cat-mom” of four, Antonella is also passionate about wildlife photography, which allows her to spend time in nature. Many photos can also be viewed on EyeEm and 500px
Dianah chiyangwa photographer contributor
Dianah Chiyangwa is a freelance photojournalist from Zimbabwe. Her passion for photography led her to South Africa. In Johannesburg, she became one of the few female street photographers and refined her professional education with a photojournalism and documentary course by the Market Photo Workshop. This workshop also gave her the opportunity to land an internship at The Con Magazine. In 2015 she took part to the first photography incubator programme, where she acquired the business and marketing skills that would later make her a successful wedding photographer. In March 2018, she was amongst the 20 storytellers who participated in the Living Legends Multimedia Programme through the Department of Arts and Culture. She is currently working with Africa-China Reporting Project, hosted by the Journalism Department of the Wits University, a programme on digital identity and technology in Africa and illegal wildlife trade. Her work has been featured in the local and international based publications. Dianah cares deeply about social and environmental issues which she addresses with her work: human rights, the condition of women and children, immigration and climate change. During her spare time she plays chess and she writes many poems based on personal experiences. Dianah is also an avid reader of Sidney Sheldon.
Giulia Gasperoni content writer
Giulia Gasperoni is the latest addition to the AAN family. A translator by trade, she enjoys writing and creating content in both Italian, her mother tongue, and English. She is passionate about literature and she dreams to help "exporting" the new South African literary voices to Italy through her translations. She also cares deeply for animal welfare and conservation, and for the incredible diversity of the natural environment in this country. When she's not translating or writing, you might find her reading, tending to her garden (with her cats and three-legged dog), drawing or listening to music. …ah, she's obviously a fan of Antonella's and Dianah's photographs, of which she has one, depicting a gorgeous lion, printed and framed in her Cape Town home.
