At 10am a picket in Pretoria, in front of the Zimbabwean embassy, was organized in support of the protest against human rights violations in the country.
The local police was also present and around 11am started dispersing the crowd by firing rubber guns. The manifestation was otherwise peaceful and, to be honest, not very crowded.
Zimbabwe has been facing hard times due to the covid19 pandemic, which exacerbated pre-existing conditions of poverty and hunger. The government's not-so-hidden corruption lit an additional spark in the fire of protest that spread across the country.
With political activists and journalists being abducted, incarcerated and treated with violence, it's ever so important that those pressing issues are brought to light.
The hashtag #zimbabweanlivesmatter is being shared more and more worldwide to show support to the cause.
